There are no friends like old friends!

The Discovery Gallery is a hands-on learning area where visitors follow their own curiosity to arrive at deeper understandings. Items from the Science Center's natural history collection have been returned to public view and take center stage. Many items have been in storage since the 1970s or have never been on display. Others have been refurbished and are returning after a short absence.

The mummy, a longtime Science Center favorite, has been reconditioned and studied by a team of researchers. Visitors can sit down and view a multi-media presentation of her fascinating story and the new scientific findings. 

In the Discovery Gallery, you'll also find the polar bears in an exciting new setting. And the Gemini trainer is taking on a new generation of "passengers" who pretend to blast off.

Tables and chairs offer further space to relax and learn. Check out a Discovery Box - maybe it's about fossils or maps - and explore its contents and questions. Each box contains items from the Science Center's teaching collection and has been chosen for instructive hands-on use. At the demonstration counter, education facilitators add to the fun with regular presentations.

The Discovery Gallery is the perfect place for grandparents, other adults, children and classes to share a love of lifelong learning.
